Tennis Coach – Job Description
Position Title: Tennis Coach
Location: Evanston, IL
Season: 3/2 to 5/22
Compensation: $4,000
Compensation: M/W/F 4pm-6pm
Position OverviewWe are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Tennis Coach to lead and develop student‑athletes in a positive, structured, and competitive environment. The ideal candidate is passionate about teaching tennis fundamentals, fostering sportsmanship, and supporting athlete growth both on and off the court.
Responsibilities- Plan and run engaging, age‑appropriate tennis practices
- Teach proper technique, footwork, strategy, and match play concepts
- Create a safe, inclusive, and motivating environment for all players
- Support player development across varying skill levels
- Emphasize sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal accountability
- Assist with match preparation, lineups, and game‑day coaching (if applicable)
- Communicate effectively with athletic staff, players, and families
- Maintain equipment and ensure court safety
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor for student‑athletes
- Playing and/or coaching experience in tennis (youth, high school, collegiate, or club level)
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work with athletes of varying ages and skill levels
- Organized, dependable, and professional
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Prior experience working with children or students preferred
- Patient, energetic, and encouraging coaching style
- Ability to demonstrate skills clearly and effectively
- Passion for athlete development and long‑term growth
- Strong understanding of tennis fundamentals and match strategy
