Accounting Assistant, Bookkeeper/ Accounting Clerk
Summary
The Accounts Payable Clerk is a member of the accounting team who performs accounts payable duties and other assigned accounting tasks at the company’s biorefining facility. The incumbent will be responsible for processing transactions with important vendors under a system of internal controls.
Responsibilities- Process accounts payable transactions for multiple entities
- Ensure proper approval and support for all payables, matching to related packing slips or open purchase orders when applicable
- Ensure appropriate coding of transactions to the general ledger
- Monitor accounts payable sub ledger aging and assist with account reconciliations
- Ensure that payments to vendors are made on a timely basis
- Ensure supporting documents are filed on a timely and accurate basis
- Assist with bank reconciliations as required
- Review and protect the business against unintentional over payment
- Coordinate receipt of new vendor information when applicable
- Complete annual review of 1099s
- Prepare sales reconciliations
- Participate in the monthly financial close process, including monthly journal entries, reporting, and analysis
- Assist Plant Accounting Manager with state filings for motor fuels, sales and use tax, etc.
- Assist with capital project reconciliations and support
- Back up for weekly and monthly plant sales, invoices and reconciliations
- Perform other tasks as assigned
- Two-year accounting/business degree or 3-5 years accounting experience preferred
- Valid driver's license required
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required
- Experience with Dynamics (or a similar accounting software package) preferred
- Excellent phone and verbal skills
- Detail-oriented; proficiency for accuracy; dependable; positive attitude; team player
- Ability to handle multiple tasks
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Proficient in Microsoft office, with solid data entry and computer skills, including Word and Excel
