Construction Inspector / Resident Project Representative (RPR) Overview
The Construction Inspector / Resident Project Representative (RPR) provides on‑site representation during the construction of municipal civil infrastructure projects. This position is field‑based and focused on observing construction activities, verifying compliance with project documents, and maintaining accurate documentation throughout construction.
The role primarily supports municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects, though candidates with broader civil and underground utility inspection experience are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities- Observe contractor work to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Maintain clear, accurate daily reports, logs, field notes, and markups.
- Review and track construction schedules, shop drawings, samples, and contractor submittals.
- Verify installed quantities and review contractor pay applications.
- Attend pre‑construction, progress, and coordination meetings.
- Communicate field issues to the assigned project engineer and assist with recommended solutions.
- Support jobsite safety programs and comply with established safety protocols.
- Remain on the jobsite daily throughout active construction.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support project delivery.

- Local road and street projects
- Experience as a Construction Inspector or RPR on civil construction projects is highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of pipe installation and underground utility construction.
- Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook, and construction reporting software.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required, including overnight travel when necessary.
- Field‑based role with typical construction hours of 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM.
- Hours may vary by season, project phase, or contractor schedule.
- Overtime is expected during peak construction periods; candidates must be comfortable working 40+ hours per week.
- Overnight travel may be required depending on project location.
- Inspectors must be willing to go where project needs require. All projects are located in Indiana.
- Mileage reimbursement provided (based on Federal rate – currently 72.5 cents/mile).
- Hotel and per diem paid for project sites that require overnight stays.

- Overtime paid at time and one‑half for hours worked over 40 per week.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Evansville, IN.
The pay range for this position is $30.00 – $40.00/hr.
