Overview
The Chemistry and Biochemistry Department, in the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at the University of Southern Indiana, invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Chemistry position to begin August 2026.
Duties/Responsibilities- Primary teaching responsibilities will include organic chemistry and chemistry classes for non-majors like allied health and general education students.
- Applicants are expected to establish a vigorous research program that involves undergraduates.
- Modest start-up funds are available.
- A Ph.D. in organic chemistry or closely related chemistry discipline is required.
- Applicants with ABD status will be considered at the rank of Instructor if doctoral degree will be completed by the end of their first year of employment.
- If employment starts in August 2026, terminal degree must be completed by the end of July 2027.

The Chemistry & Biochemistry Department offers ACS approved chemistry and biochemistry programs and is well equipped with modern instrumentation. It is home to 11 full-time faculty members and approximately 85 undergraduate students and offers support courses for many programs at the institution.
