Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,494
Primary Purpose of Department: The mission of Housing and Residence Life is to foster communities that enhance the academic, social, and personal development of residential students. We strive to provide students with a variety of living environments that are clean, safe, and affordable.
Primary Purpose of Position: The Associate Director is a member of the department’s Residence Life Leadership Team who supervises, leads, and develops staff and provides vision and direction for specific content areas in the Residence Life unit.
Summary of
Position Responsibilities:
- Provide supervision and development for full‑time, master’s‑level Assistant Directors, as well as the professional and student staff assigned to their areas.
- Lead and direct Residence Life recruitment, selection, and training programs at the professional, graduate, and undergraduate student levels.
- Guide departmental initiatives related to the implementation of the Residential Curriculum and LC program partnership.
- Serve as a departmental representative on assigned University and Division of Student Affairs committees.
- Collaborate with the Division of Student Affairs and Housing and Residence Life to gather research, create reports, and conduct assessment efforts related to Residence Life.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (ideally in higher education, counseling, and/or student personnel, or a related field).
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive professional experience in campus housing, student affairs, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience supervising graduate or professional staff.
- Experience with recruitment, selection, training, and ongoing development of full‑time and student staff.
- Experience in crisis management or on‑call response.
- Experience with Human Resources functions.
- Experience coordinating Learning Community programs or Academic Initiatives.
- Familiarity with the Residential Curriculum.
