Position SummaryThis position is responsible for supporting GWEP training initiatives and the educational use and maintenance of geriatric educational equipment. The position will be shared by the Charles
E. Day Learning Resource Center and the Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program.
This is a federally funded grant position through June 30, 2027. Funding for each subsequent year, up to June 30, 2029, is contingent on satisfactory progress and continuation from HRSA.
Duties/Responsibilities- Under the direction of the GWEP programs manager, the GWEP training coordinator will for 50% of time: document and maintain training plans for 13 individual clinics and support all aspects of the development and implementation of training plans, including coordination directly with site representatives.
- Work with faculty who lead GWEP training events and educational initiatives to support content development and execute coordination logistics.
- Work as a regular and effective part of the GWEP team.
- Under the direction of the Charles
E. Day Learning Resource Center, the GWEP training coordinator will for 50% of time: serve as primary liaison for Minka use by faculty and external visitors, ensuring that all equipment is regularly tested and working. - Serve as a tour guide at the Minka and ensure that student workers also are equipped to support or lead tours as needed.
- Serve as the primary liaison for AI equipment, geriatric simulation kits, and telehealth equipment, supporting integration into the Learning Center and use within KCNHP classrooms.
- Involve regular updating and maintenance of equipment and kits.
- Support faculty in use of equipment in classroom, Center or Minka.
- Instructional support of student experiential learning.
- Supervision of student worker activities, such as inventorying, reserving and updating equipment.
- Work as a regular and effective part of the KCNHP Learning Center team.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree is required, major in a health‑related field preferred.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Experience managing and reporting information for external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, exceptional organizational skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders in a team environment.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record as defined by USI’s Vehicle Safety Policy.
- Master’s degree in a health‑related field.
- Professional interest and academic background in gerontology.
- Previous experience with computerized information systems.
- Remain in a stationary position at a desk or workstation for extended periods of time for the majority of assigned duties.
- Ability to use computers and computer systems to set up functions, to enter data, to retrieve and process information, and to create documents and presentations.
- Physical access to meetings, presentations and events that occur at on‑campus sites such as classrooms and meeting rooms, and at various sites throughout the local and regional area.
- May require extensive physical activity with some events to oversee activities, to set up and to interact with participants.
- Effective problem solving and presentation of a consistently professional demeanor while meeting deadlines and achieving critical outcomes, even under demanding conditions such as multiple priorities and short‑notice deadlines.
- Occasional independent physical manipulation of loads of up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to clearly enunciate and hear low voice tones.
- Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
- Occasional irregular hours may be required.
- Periodic travel in and out of state may be required.
