Kindergarten Teacher; St. Benedict Cathedral School - Evansville

Position: Kindergarten Teacher (St. Benedict Cathedral School - Evansville, IN)
The Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality, developmentally appropriate instruction while fostering a structured, nurturing, and faith-filled learning environment that promotes academic growth, social-emotional development, and a love of learning. The Kindergarten Teacher helps students build the foundational skills necessary for future success while supporting the mission of Catholic education.

Essential Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction aligned with school and diocesan curriculum guidelines in Reading, Mathematics, Phonics, Handwriting, Religion, Science, and Social Studies.

Utilize evidence-based literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading to develop strong foundational reading and writing skills.

Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, social, emotional, and developmental needs of all learners.

Create a positive, organized classroom environment that promotes independence, respect, and Catholic values.

Assess student learning, monitor progress, and use data to guide instruction.

Maintain accurate academic records and communicate student progress regularly with families.

Collaborate with colleagues, resource staff, and administration to support student success.

Supervise students during assigned duties, including arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and hallway supervision.

Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide activities.

Support and uphold the mission, policies, and procedures of St. Benedict Cathedral School.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education

Valid Indiana teaching license or eligibility for licensure in Elementary Education.

Experience teaching kindergarten or primary elementary students preferred

Ability to build strong, nurturing relationships with young learners while supporting their academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development.

Knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate instructional practices for kindergarten students.

Understanding of evidence-based early literacy instruction grounded in the Science of Reading, as well as foundational mathematics instruction.

Strong classroom management, organizational, and communication skills.

Flexibility and adaptability in meeting the diverse needs of young learners.

Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, support staff, and families to promote student success.
