Job Overview
Ivy Tech Community College of Evansville is looking for adjunct faculty to instruct in the Medical Assisting program. The role is in‑person at the Evansville, IN campus and will prepare students for careers in outpatient billing and coding, clinical medical assisting, and other health‑care related fields. Adjunct positions are temporary, part‑time contracts hired each semester on an as‑needed basis.
The faculty member will create a learning environment that helps students reach their goals and provide effective instruction and assessment within the common syllabi provided by the School.
Responsibilities- Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
- Provide syllabus appropriate to the course(s) being taught and follow syllabus content and requirements.
- Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
- Submit required information within established timelines.
- Be available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions and provide assistance.
- Consult with the program coordinator to resolve student concerns when necessary.
- Meet all scheduled classes for the contracted course(s).
- Use technology such as Blackboard, Canva, PowerPoint, and other appropriate tools.
- Notify the program or department chair in the event of an emergency absence.
- Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for the diversity of people, styles, and views, promoting inclusion as an integral part of the work.
- Earned associate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Minimum of one year of related work experience.
- Professional certification in the field of medical assisting.
Preferred Qualifications
:
Experience providing instruction at a post‑secondary institute.
Hiring Range: $45.00 per contact hour (approximately $2,160 per 8‑week course).
Work Hours:
The role starts in August and runs during the fall term. Many classes will be held during daytime hours.
