The University of Evansville invites applications for a motivated, expert clinician-educator to join our esteemed Nurse Anesthesia Program as an Assistant Program Director and Assistant Professor. This position is scheduled to begin on January 1, 2027.

In this dynamic leadership and faculty role, you will work closely with the Program Director to oversee daily department operations, guide curriculum development, and assess student outcomes to ensure continuous program excellence. Whether you choose a tenure-track path or focus on instructional and clinical leadership, this position offers a unique balance of academic administration, teaching, mentorship, and optional clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Management:
    Lead curriculum development and assessment for the nurse anesthesia program, utilizing student evaluations and faculty feedback to drive continuous improvement and meet programmatic outcomes.
  • Didactic Instruction & Course Coordination:
    Develop, organize, deliver, and assess assigned courses. Manage syllabi, schedules, lecture objectives, and evaluation tools while maintaining expert knowledge in subject matter.
  • Student Advising & Mentorship:
    Mentor professional-phase nurse anesthesia students throughout their course of study, offering academic, professional, and personal guidance.
  • Record Keeping:
    Maintain accurate course and student records for assessment, submitting all documentation to the University by established deadlines.
  • Recruitment & Community Outreach:
    Represent the program to prospective students, families, the University, and the broader community.
  • Committee Service:
    Actively participate in required programmatic committees as well as College and University-wide committees.
  • Scholarly & Professional Engagement:
    Engage in ongoing scholarship, professional development, and consulting activities, including attendance at conferences and research initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Education:

    Must hold a doctoral degree (DNP, DNAP, or PhD) from an accredited institution recognized by the US Secretary of Education.
  • Certification:
    Must hold current certification or recertification as a CRNA by the NBCRNA.
  • Industry Awareness:
    Demonstrated knowledge of environmental and regulatory issues influencing nurse anesthesia practice and education.
  • Tenure-Track Option:
    Faculty members have the option to pursue a tenure-track appointment.
  • Clinical Practice Opportunity:
    Faculty in clinical programs have the unique opportunity to maintain active clinical practice by working up to 8 hours per week outside the University in their specialty.
