Position DetailsWorks 186 days per year, 8 hours per day, floating across Title I rooms and locations based on staffing needs. The position is grant‑funded and funding is awarded on a year‑by‑year basis.
SalaryAnnual salary range: $43,285 – $52,232 (commensurate with experience)

The Early Childhood Lead Instructor—Title I Float is a Title I‑funded position assigned exclusively to Title I early childhood sites. The instructor provides instructional continuity by serving as a floating lead instructor to support classrooms experiencing staffing needs and plans a high‑quality, developmentally appropriate program for infants through Pre‑K children while maintaining consistency in operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provided floating lead instructor coverage for Title I early childhood sites based on program needs.
- Filled short‑term staffing vacancies resulting from employee absences and open lead instructor positions.
- Provided extended coverage for long‑term vacancies, including employee leaves of absence.
- Transitioned effectively between classrooms and sites while maintaining consistent instructional practices and compliance with program expectations.
- Collaborated with administrators and early childhood leaders to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of services during staffing changes.
- Used assessment data and observations to differentiate instruction and meet individual developmental and learning needs.
- Planned and implemented engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences aligned with the Indiana Early Learning Foundations.
- Conducted home visits at least once per year to strengthen family partnerships.
- Developed strategies to create a welcoming, inclusive, and family‑centered classroom environment.
- Held at least one family/classroom meeting annually to encourage family involvement.
- Ensured compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations, licensing standards, and program requirements.
- Collaborated with community partners and outside resources to enhance educational opportunities and support services.
- Fostered a classroom culture that promotes leadership, cooperation, responsibility, and respect among children.
- Maintained a warm, safe, and nurturing learning environment that encourages exploration, creativity, and growth.
- Planned, prepared, and implemented daily indoor and outdoor activities supporting the curriculum and developmental goals.
- Assumed responsibility for the health, safety, supervision, and overall well‑being of children at all times.
- Assisted children with toileting, diapering, feeding, handwashing, and other self‑care needs while respecting dignity and sanitary practices.
- Oversaw mealtime and snack‑time routines, including supervision, sanitation, and required documentation.
- Maintained accurate daily attendance records and required program documentation.
- Maintained ongoing developmental records for each child, including physical, social‑emotional, language, and cognitive development.
- Developed and maintained individual child portfolios with observations, photographs, work samples, and progress documentation.
- Communicated regularly and professionally with families through daily reports, notes, phone calls, conferences, and face‑to‑face conversations.
- Participated in staff meetings, committees, professional learning communities (PLCs), and ongoing professional development opportunities.
