Civil​/Structural Design Engineer, Evansville

This position is required to be on-site, in Evansville, Indiana, Monday through Friday. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future. Frontier-Kemper, a Tutor Perini Company, is seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join our office in Evansville, IN.

As a Civil/Structural Design Engineer at Frontier-Kemper, you will have the opportunity to:

• Be an integral member of the Engineering Division at Frontier-Kemper Constructors, Inc.
• Work on mining and heavy civil construction projects as well as hoisting equipment projects.
• Design work will include construction plan preparation, hoisting equipment design and manufacture, mining shaft and slope design, and construction support for all aspects of mining and heavy civil construction projects.
• Interact with peers, consultants, outside vendors and clients, as appropriate.

• Design civil/structural systems, structures and components.
• Assist with modifications to existing equipment, systems, structures and components.
• Provide technical support to the Civil, Mining and FKC – Lake Shore Divisions.
• Assist with project planning and technical quotes for systems, structures and components.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards related to civil/structural systems, structures and components.
• Assist in responding to site-based requests for information, including analysis and recommendations.
• Prepare and present project documents including calculations, drawings, specifications and reports.
• Travel to site, as needed.

• Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.
• A minimum of 3 - 10 years of work experience, preferably in a field related to underground construction and/or mining.
• A licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) or able to register as a licensed P.E. within 2 years.
• Experience in design of reinforced concrete structures and steel structures.
• Geotechnical engineering and/or support of excavation (SOE) design experience is desirable.
• Proficient in preparation of structural calculations utilizing structural analysis software and hand calculations.
• Demonstrated logical problem‑solving skills, including conceptual and analytical skills.
• Knowledge of Autodesk Inventor software is desired.
• Knowledge of Finite Element Analysis software would be an asset.
• Advanced computer skills in spreadsheets, word processing, and database software.
