Electric Reliability Compliance Specialist Job Summary
As the Electric Reliability Compliance Specialist, you will coordinate, monitor, and assess the implementation of NERC Reliability Standards applicable to CenterPoint Energy’s Indiana Electric system by supporting various departments in their compliance efforts.
Essential Functions- Monitor changes to regulatory standards and communicate to impacted stakeholders.
- Develop comments and voting recommendations on various NERC projects.
- Provide assistance in understanding the requirements in the NERC Operations & Planning Standards and what evidence is sufficient to demonstrate compliance with the Standards.
- Review compliance documentation from the responsible departments and provide guidance on document development and maintenance.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of compliance policies, programs, procedures, and processes.
- Collaborate with various Company departments and Legal to coordinate the Company’s response to formal audits, spot checks, certification reviews, self-logs, self-reports, system event reporting, Requests for Information, and compliance and enforcement investigations.
- Monitor progress on key projects, ensuring compliance with standards is met.
- Organize documentation for presentation to compliance leadership, department leadership, legal and other stakeholders.
- Engage in the risk methodology process, working closely with subject matter experts to map processes and clearly document process objectives, risks to achieving objectives and current controls in place to mitigate risks, as well as identifying new controls.
- Perform internal compliance assessments ensuring that compliance needs are addressed, and concerns are resolved.
- Manage workload with minimum supervision under time constraints.
- Develop industry specific knowledge, skills, and a thorough understanding of compliance requirements.
- Participate in emergency response activities as needed or support company operations during periods of labor unrest.
- A Bachelor’s degree of science in business, risk management, information technology, communications, education or other related field required.
- Knowledge and experience in electric utility operations, regulatory compliance and/or procedural development of a similar nature.
- At least 2 years of experience working with NERC or compliance standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Analytical skills with experience in critical thinking, problem solving, and project management.
