Carbondale, IL., Chicago, IL., Lisle, IL., Springfield IL. or St. Louis, MO. This position will require travel to Collinsville, IL approximately 1x per week.**
* CDM Smith is a multi-discipline engineering and architectural firm. Our firm is responsible for large-scale water and wastewater plant design, transit facilities, industrial facilities, office space design, federal facilities, facility planning and condition assessment work. As a Senior Project Engineer at CDM Smith specializing in transportation related systems including traffic signals, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), lighting, and electrical, you will have the opportunity to be a part of a growing collaborative multidisciplinary team of technical experts working on challenging projects in the transportation business portfolio, including program management, system design, review, and oversight, and advisory services.
The Senior ITS Engineer will have the following responsibilities:
- Oversee and work with internal, client, and external consultant staff to review and/or design, to develop final construction contract documents.
- Develop building design criteria directly with clients. Lead preparation of presentation materials and make presentations.
- Lead development and coordination of electrical systems design and construction contract documents with multi-discipline engineering staff.
- Lead and mentor project engineers and junior staff on projects.
- Determination of construction materials, technologies and methodologies for detailing.
- Preparation and editing of technical specifications.
- Confirm compliance with standards and requirements/regulations, including coordination with IDOT and agencies having jurisdiction.
- Serve as Quality Control and independent reviewer for other consultants work.
- Assist in development of project budgets and schedules, both internal and external. Assist in monitoring projects through letting/close out.
- Support sales, meet with clients, and serve as a Project Technical Lead for
** Electrical/ITS
** driven projects.
** Skills & Abilities*
* -Expert technical knowledge and design application knowledge.
-Expert knowledge of technologies and methodologies in the use of construction materials.
-Expert knowledge of CAD Systems/software, preferably Micro Station.
-Expert knowledge of IDOT, CDOT, IL Tollway standards and specifications.
-Expert knowledge with Bluebeam Revue.
-Expert knowledge of basic business office software (Word, Excel, etc.).
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Strong critical thinking, technical writing ability, and verbal communication skills.
** Qualifications*
* Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline. Professional engineering (PE) license. 10 years of related experience. Domestic and/or international travel may be required.
