Job Description Reporting to the Tooling Director, the Sr. Process and Tooling Engineer, is responsible for leading all aspects of Blow Molding tooling, process development, validation, and qualification activities across Amcor manufacturing operations. This position manages tooling projects from concept and quoting through implementation while providing technical leadership in mold manufacturing, qualification, process optimization, equipment validation, troubleshooting, and operational excellence initiatives.
The role serves as a key liaison between Product Development, R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, vendors, and plant technical teams to ensure tooling designs, manufacturing processes, and production systems meet safety, quality, performance, and customer requirements. The position also develops technical standards, drives best practices, and supports the continuous improvement of ISBM manufacturing capabilities throughout the organization.
Accountabilities:
1. Tooling Project ManagementParticipate in Business Development Requests (BDRs) and tooling and machines Bottle quotation activities. Define, document, and manage project scope related to ISBM tooling projects. Interface with Product Development and R&D teams to ensure container designs meet tooling and manufacturing standards. Facilitate information transfer from product development through production implementation. Work with Supply Chain and plant resources to determine optimal manufacturing locations and production lines for new tooling.
Define and document tooling requirements, including machines and downstream equipment requirements. Develop tooling specifications and coordinate mold design and construction with tooling vendors. Complete and manage Injection Stretch Blow Production Mold Order (ISB-PMO) documentation. Obtain tooling quotations, evaluate vendor proposals, and develop project Bills of Material. Issue purchase orders and manage tooling procurement activities. Review and approve tooling designs, assembly drawings, and CAD models.
Conduct tooling design reviews for critical projects. Track vendor performance, project timelines, tooling quality, and delivery schedules. Resolve tooling-related technical and schedule issues. Participate in vendor assessment, qualification, onboarding, and development activities. Manage tooling project pipelines and accelerate vendor capacity constraints. Maintain project databases, documentation, and records. Create and maintain tooling standards and specification documents. Issue weekly internal status report for all ongoing blow tooling projects.
Process Engineering & Technical Leadership
Lead all mold sampling, process qualification, and validation activities for new, replacement, and rebuilt molds. Optimize molding processes to achieve dimensional, visual, and performance specifications at designed cycle times. Establish validated baseline processes and maintain standardized Master Process Sheets. Create and maintain Process of Adjustment (POA) documentation and baseline operating parameters. Support machine startups involving new, transferred, modified, or repaired tooling and machines.
Provide technical support for troubleshooting processes, machines, tooling, quality, and productivity issues. Perform process capability studies, statistical analysis, Design of Experiments (DOE), and validation testing. Conduct tooling and equipment…
