Controller, Finance & Banking, Financial Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Controller to join a leading construction organization in Evansville, Indiana. This role involves overseeing accounting operations, driving financial strategy, and ensuring compliance for a business unit generating over $500 million in annual revenue. As a key member of the finance leadership team, you will lead a high-performing accounting group, influence strategic decision-making, and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.

Responsibilities:

- Provide strategic leadership for accounting and financial operations across the business unit.

- Manage and mentor a high-performing finance team, fostering collaboration and operational excellence.

- Oversee the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

- Prepare detailed financial analyses and performance commentary to support business insights.

- Establish and maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with industry standards.

- Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors during quarterly and annual audits.

- Identify financial risks and develop proactive remediation plans to mitigate audit findings.

- Drive process improvement initiatives, focusing on automation and workflow optimization.

- Offer executive management actionable financial insights and recommendations to enhance performance.

- Lead and contribute to strategic projects and cross-functional initiatives as required. Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance leadership roles, preferably in the construction industry.

- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with JD Edwards, Hyperion, and Essbase.

- Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting and revenue recognition principles.

- Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution of financial operations.

- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.

- Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced environments and manage shifting priorities effectively.

- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, producing accurate and insightful financial reports.
