Senior Corporate Trust Officer

Responsibilities

The Senior Corporate Trust Officer serves as a single point of contact for bond issues and escrow accounts, including new business, growth, and retention. Responsibilities involve strong sales, marketing, and networking with both external and internal clients (Treasury Management, Commercial Lending, and Legal departments). The officer reviews and analyzes complex agreements to set up new issues within bond accounting and cash accounting systems, and serves as backup and potential successor to the Managing Director of Corporate Trust.

Salary

Range

Base salary ranges from $77,900/yr to $153,000/yr plus bonus. The compensation range applies across the United States and may vary according to responsibilities, skills, experience, education, and geographic location.

Key Accountabilities
  • Municipal Bond Administration
  • Sales of new bond issuances to grow authorized and outstanding debt managed – the office serves as Trustee, Registrar, and Paying Agent.
  • Minimize the number of bond issues on the Watch and Default list through thorough analysis of documents.
  • Generate additional fees from construction and debt service reserve accounts set up as Custody accounts.
  • Monitor risk and compliance with bond documents.
  • Debt Payment Monitoring and Administration: ensure accurate, timely payment of debt service payments to bondholders.
  • Review and process Bond Fund Distributions from Operation and Reserve Funds.
  • Ensure issuers receive correct payments to vendors for construction work performed, including checks, wires, and ACH.
  • Daily reconciliation with the Depository Trust Company.
  • Client Relationship Management and dialogue with debt and escrow relationship owners.
  • Network with Attorneys, Bond Counsel, Financial Advisors, and Underwriters; review and analyze documents.
  • Partner internally to assist Commercial Banking and Legal Departments with Escrow and Bond purchases and loan considerations.
  • Assist with new and existing bank products.
  • Maintain strong positive Reputation Risk among peers, issuers, and partners.
  • Team Leadership and Operational Oversight.
  • Develop clear policies and procedures.
  • Ensure clean internal and external audits; proactively address and correct issues.
  • Promote synergy and inclusion within the department.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • BS in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
  • Corporate Trust Master Designation
