As a BBCC Underwriter, you will analyze loan applications at the business banking level, ensuring appropriate structures, asset quality ratings, and compliance with bank lending standards. You collaborate with Business Bankers and support staff to manage the end-to-end loan process.
CompensationSalary range: $60,000.00 per year – $ per year. Salary offers may vary by responsibilities, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
Key Accountabilities- Evaluate, underwrite, and decide applications efficiently
- Meet application production requirements
- Identify and mitigate high-risk applications
- Exercise granted authority with confidence and integrity
- Produce high-quality, accurate analysis while maintaining efficiency
- Collaborate with production associates, support staff, and teammates
- Maintain group mailbox, manage application pipeline, assist with administrative responsibilities, and participate in projects as needed
- Engage with, learn from, and teach department staff to maximize internal growth and development opportunities
- Grow technical skills in systems, scoring model usage, and loan policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Proficient in multiple internal or third-party systems
- Maintain understanding of scoring model and its application, including financial statement analysis and ratio calculations
- Apply loan policies, guidelines, and standards accurately
- For senior role: act as right-hand of department manager, review and decide applications for other underwriters, assist in conflict resolution, train and develop less experienced underwriters, fill in for manager when absent, handle special projects, and develop leadership competencies

- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field OR equivalent experience.
- Agricultural underwriting experience is a plus.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements and understand basic accounting principles.
- Understand risks associated with lending to various industry types.
- Basic knowledge of loan structuring, borrowing causes, and lending regulations.
- Make sound independent decisions and communicate them clearly.
- Actively listen, identify issues and opportunities, and problem solve.
- Comfortable working in a collaborative team environment while being an independent thinker.
