Evansville State Hospital is one of the Indiana State Psychiatric Hospitals committed to the mission of Hope and Recovery. Located on 88 acres on the east side of Evansville, Ind., our facility provides medical treatment for chronic mental illness and substance abuse disorders with a dedicated team of psychiatrists and advanced practice professionals. Active Treatment helps our patients achieve their goals towards living in the most non-restrictive environment possible.
Our team assists patients in the treatment process, involving medical staff, nursing, psychology, social work, rehabilitation therapy, and community integration programs. Evansville State Hospital maintains accreditation through The Joint Commission as an Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital and CMS certification as a Psychiatric Medicare/Medicaid Hospital.
Salary Statement

The salary for this position typically starts at $41,210.00 but may be adjusted based on education or experience.

Qualifications:The ideal candidate will minimally have:
- A High School Diploma or HSE diploma.
- At least 1+ years of relevant experience applying knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined below.
Relevant certifications and coursework may be considered.
- Certified or willing to become certified in CPR/AED.
- Knowledge of psychiatric nursing care, including medication administration.
- Ability to accurately complete reports and documentation.
- Effective response skills in emergencies.
- Knowledge of behavior modification, self-defense, and restraint techniques.
- Understanding of resident behavior and ability to anticipate and respond to changes.
- Knowledge of institutional procedures.
- Ability to assist with housekeeping and daily living activities.
- Knowledge of therapeutic rehabilitation principles and methods.
- Understanding of mental health needs specific to client groups.
- Teaching skills such as motivation, assessment, charting, and behavior modification.
- Ability to operate routine medical equipment.
- Timely and accurate documentation skills.
- Legal ability to operate a motor vehicle in Indiana.
- Ability to manage and distribute client trust accounts.
- Recognition of behaviors requiring intervention.
- Knowledge of mental health service systems.
- Ability to perform essential functions with or without accommodations.
