About the role
The Senior Manager, IT Global Technical Delivery is accountable for guiding a technical team to deliver new capabilities and optimize existing applications, as well as managing the end-to-end delivery, stability, and strategic development of SAP Basis and DBA services.
Key Job Accountabilities- Ensure the SAP Basis and database environments operate reliably and meet business operational requirements.
- Meet agreed SLA's for all SAP Basis and DBA services.
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the SAP Basis and DBA program.
- Perform resource and capacity planning, communicating constraints, alternative resource options, priorities, and expected delivery dates to Business and Demand Managers / Business Relationship Managers.
- Manage all SAP Basis and DBA escalations, ensuring timely resolution and stakeholder communication.
- Oversee third party service providers supporting SAP Basis and DBA activities, when required.
- Proactively develop and standardize SAP Basis and DBA practices across the business, ensuring high levels of simplification, harmonization, and convergence across system landscapes.
- Build and influence stakeholder networks so the SAP Basis and DBA organization is recognized as a strategic business partner.
- Manage software release processes, including SAP kernel upgrades, enhancement packs, support packages, database patches, and related technical changes.
- Lead short and long term technical strategy development for SAP Basis and DBA areas, in alignment with the Global Architecture team.
- Lead, mentor, and manage team members to optimize performance through effective communication and the creation of a positive team environment.
- Set clear objectives, challenging targets, and team based goals.
- Assess technical skills within SAP Basis and DBA teams, identify training needs and development opportunities, and ensure required tools and materials are available.
- Ensure the successful delivery of technical projects and system changes within SAP Basis and DBA. Actively communicate project status and issues, ensuring business needs are understood and met.
- Develop policies and procedures to continuously improve the delivery of SAP Basis and DBA services and ensure compliance with required standards and regulations (including SOX).
- Evaluate new features and capabilities of SAP Basis and database technologies to advise Business Operations and contribute to the evolution of the SAP landscape managed by Global Applications Delivery.
- Develop and manage metrics related to projects, technical operations, system performance, and incident resolution within SAP Basis and DBA.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
- Fluent English. Another European language would be an advantage.
- 10+ years' experience in IT or equivalent, including supervisory responsibilities, project management, consulting, and process reengineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Expert knowledge of systems development life cycle (SDLC).
- Strong understanding of business processes.
- Strategic thinking capability.
- Strong relationship building skills with stakeholders at all levels.
- Effective problem solving skills.
- Ability to quickly assimilate new technologies.
- Proven experience building and motivating cross-functional teams.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Detail oriented, with the ability to think holistically and understand business impact.
- Demonstrated accountability for delivering complex projects on time.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in global or regional SAP Basis and DBA projects (preferred).
