Key Responsibilities
As the Desktop Support Coordinator, you will act as a bridge between IT strategy and ground-level technical execution. Your main duties will include:
- Coordination of Support Services:
Ensure timely response to hardware, software, and workstation issues for faculty and staff. - Classroom & Lab Tech Oversight:
Coordinate the maintenance of instructional technology, including projectors, AV systems, and classroom computers, ensuring they are ready for daily operation. - Service Workflow Management:
Manage service requests through the campus ticketing system, providing leadership on ticket prioritization, clear documentation, and consistent resolutions. - Student Tech Liaison:
Oversee assistance for students regarding personal device connectivity and academic tech access. - Deployment & Asset Management:
Direct the installation, configuration, and updating of software across university workstations; maintain accurate technology inventory records. - Hands-On Technical Execution:
Perform technical work across campus that includes lifting equipment, using ladders, and frequent travel between facilities for on-site support.
- Technical Mastery:
Proficiency with Windows and macOS operating systems; familiarity with mobile platforms (iOS/iPadOS, Android) and basic network troubleshooting. - Leadership/Coordination:
Experience managing multiple priorities, prioritizing service requests, and working independently to lead technical resolutions. - Communication:
Exceptional verbal and written skills with the ability to explain complex technical issues to non-technical users in a professional, service-oriented manner. - Physical Ability:
Capability to lift up to 40 lbs, climb ladders, and remain mobile across campus as needed. - Attention to Detail:
Meticulous approach to inventory tracking and service documentation.
- Experience:
1+ year of IT support experience in a professional or academic setting, combined with 1+ year of customer service or coordination experience. - Certifications:
CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), or equivalent professional certifications.
