Job Purpose:The Procurement Specialist sources and procures designated production and non-production materials that keep Anchor’s operations running safely, on schedule, and at the right cost. This role owns competitive sourcing, negotiation, and supplier performance for an assigned commodity portfolio, and works independently with minimal supervision. The Procurement Specialist partners closely with Engineering, Sales, Quality, and Receiving to build supplier relationships that support both immediate production needs and long-term business goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:- Secure and analyze competitive quotations; negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery for assigned commodities.
- Establish standard costs for all production SKUs annually and track performance against cost targets throughout the year.
- Analyze market trends for assigned commodities to ensure Anchor is sourcing from the right suppliers at the right cost.
- Identify and develop new suppliers when current sources are inadequate, in consultation with Engineering and Sales.
- Review purchase requisitions for proper authorization and validity.
- Issues purchase orders with accurate pricing, terms, quantity, and delivery dates.
- Maintain accurate inventory balances for assigned commodities.
- Expedite purchase orders as needed to meet production schedules.
- Evaluate assigned suppliers quarterly on quality, delivery, and cost performance.
- Resolve quality, quantity, and pricing issues with suppliers, driving root-cause corrective action rather than onetime fixes.
- Organize and lead supplier meetings to keep departments informed of part, material, or process changes.
- Advise management of notable suppliers or market developments that could affect cost, quality, or supply continuity.
- Coordinate with Receiving to confirm correct items and quantities are received.
- Coordinate cross-departmental supplier meetings as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; equivalent coursework or relevant experience considered.
- Five (5) years of related purchasing or procurement experience, including two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience with an ERP or purchasing/RFQ system preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of securing favorable terms.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret policies, documents, and regulations.
- Ability to write clear reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with managers, customers, and colleagues at all levels.
- Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
- Ability to calculate percentages and ratios; comfortable with cost and data analysis.
- Sound problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
- Strong organizational skills for efficient planning.
- Reliable, predictable attendance.
