Final Drive Inspect Mechanic

Purpose:
H-E Parts (Brake Supply) is hiring for a Final Drive Inspect Mechanic. The purpose of this position is to tear down, clean, inspect, and rebuild heavy equipment components as defined in work order and ISO process instructions. Team members work as a team by specializing in a specific area or areas as assigned by their team leader.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to organization standards and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns
- Ensure precision equipment is maintained by following scheduled maintenance plan, keeping tools clean, calibrated and placed in a secure location
- Inspect unit parts by visually examining parts for scratches, deformities and using precision measuring equipment to check tolerance according to the original equipment
- Move parts by operating overhead cranes, scissor lifts, carts, and dollies
- Determine assemble/disassemble process by reading and understanding instructions in the Parts Manual and following drawing and schematics
- Perform assembly/disassembly tasks by using tools, gas torch, welders, hydraulic rams, presses, electric and pneumatic RAD wrenches, ½ to 1 inch drive pneumatic impact wrenches and various high speed air tools
- Prepare part for wash by matching brass plate to work order, disassembling components, placing parts into basket and conferring with fork truck driver to deliver unit to wash area
- Clean parts by placing part into safely clean tank using solvent brush to remove excess dirt/grim and blowing of excess moisture/dirt
- Ensure mating parts are compatible by checking tolerances for proper fit
- Inspect parts received from wash area by examining bearing bores, wheels, gears, shaft bores, carries, dimensions, seal surfaces and any other relevant or critical areas. Properly complete the appropriate inspection documentation
- Document parts that are needed using the part number
- Able to identify part by product number used by HEPI/ Brake Supply and compare to corresponding work order
- Prepare part for outside vendor or in house machine shop by tagging, completing the appropriate RV forms of the machine shop work order and contacting fork truck driver to transport to staging area for pick up, as needed
- Visually inspect all used and new parts during assembly to ensure a quality rebuild
- Perform other duties as required or assigned

Education and/or
Experience:
- A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required
- At least one year mechanical work experience or equivalent education is preferred

Skills:

The team member frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
The team member is occasionally required to walk and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The team member must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; however the use of lifting equipment is recommended.
