Registered Nurse (RN) | Stepdown
Location: Evansville, IN
Agency: Fusion Medical Staffing
Pay: $1,649 to $1,754 per week
Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Stepdown RN for a 13‑week travel assignment in Evansville, Indiana. The role involves caring for patients transitioning from intensive care to medical‑surgical units, monitoring telemetry, administering medications, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities- Monitors and interprets cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and other telemetry data to detect abnormalities and respond appropriately.
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
- Prepares equipment and aids physicians during cardiac‑related procedures and examinations.
- Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of telemetry patients.
- Observes patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisors or physicians of patient status and response to interventions.
- Responds to life‑saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols specific to cardiac emergencies.
- Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned telemetry patients.
- Initiates patient education plans according to individualized needs, focusing on cardiac health, risk factors, and lifestyle modifications.
- Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure comprehensive care for telemetry patients.
- Maintains confidentiality of patients and client information.
- Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.
- Adheres to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards.
- One year of recent experience as a Stepdown RN.
- Current valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC).
- Current ACLS Certification (AHA/ARC).
- Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN) Certification (preferred).
- NIHSS Certification (preferred).
- Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Proficiency in PC skills and following written and verbal instructions.
- Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse personnel and maintain a professional attitude.
- Strong motor skills for fine manipulation and handling of equipment.
- Mental resilience to handle frequent contact with the public and deadlines under pressure.
