About Evansville State Hospital:Evansville State Hospital is one of the Indiana State Psychiatric Hospitals who are committed to the mission of Hope and Recovery. Residing on 88 acres on the east side of Evansville, Ind., our facility provides medical treatment for chronic mental illness and substance abuse disorders from our dedicated team of psychiatrists and advanced practice professionals. Active Treatment helps our patients achieve their goals directed towards living in the most non-restrictive environment possible.
Our team of professionals assist our patients in the treatment process involving medical staff, nursing, psychology, social work, rehabilitation therapy and our community integration program. Evansville State Hospital continues to maintain accreditation through The Joint Commission as an Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital as well as Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services certification as a Psychiatric Medicare/Medicaid Hospital.
Role Overview :This position works as a member of the professional medical staff of the Evansville campuses. Scheduled hours are 8:00 AM- 4:00 PM and 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM, Monday
- Friday. No weekend or observed holiday requirements.

A Day in the Life:Program Administration Support
- Maintain accurate records to reflect and assume accountability for clinical decisions and actions.
- Provide consultation through collaboration with a variety of health care professionals.
- Develop educational programs for individuals and groups appropriate to health problems, level of functioning, emotional needs, and patient characteristics.
- Obtain patient health histories, exams, and establish diagnoses.
- Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies.
- Perform indicated procedures and therapeutic/corrective measures.
- Refer patients to appropriate health care providers.
- Prescribe medication and treatment within practice guidelines.
- Provide initial emergency care such as CPR and alert appropriate emergency providers.
- Lead and direct nursing staff in the design, coordination, and evaluation of research to improve clinical practice and delivery of health care.
- Direct or participate in the oversight and application of quality research assurance projects.

What You'll Need for Success:Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:
- Specialized knowledge of, and ability to utilize, the full range of accepted professional nursing principles and practices within in-patient care.
- Working knowledge of psychology relative to handling and caring for mentally disabled individuals and those with abnormal mental and behavioral patterns as provided in nursing education.
- Possess a high degree of skill in providing patient care and reacting effectively in emergency situations.
