Inotiv is seeking a Formulation Scientist to join our collaborative and fast-paced team. This position is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals (1–3 years of experience) with a chemistry or related science background who enjoy hands‑on “kitchen chemistry” work in a regulated laboratory environment. You’ll play a key role in preparing dosing formulations and supporting research studies that advance scientific discovery.
The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, documentation‑driven, and enjoys problem‑solving through collaboration with cross‑functional teams.
- Prepare dosing formulations using standard laboratory techniques (weighing, pipetting, mixing, sonicating, homogenizing, diluting, filtering, etc.) as directed.
- Prepare reagents and assemble necessary equipment for formulation activities.
- Perform routine and moderately complex laboratory procedures while maintaining compliance with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
- Troubleshoot formulation issues with minimal supervision and seek guidance when needed.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all formulation activities, procedures, and equipment maintenance/calibration.
- Contribute to the review of formulation data and assist with equipment qualification.
- Stay current on updates and improvements in formulation methods and documentation practices.
- Support the continuous improvement of laboratory techniques, processes, and documentation.
- Participate in in‑house training programs and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) in Chemistry or a related scientific field from an accredited institution. 0–3 years of experience working in a laboratory, preferably within a regulated or GLP environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Solid laboratory technique and ability to follow written procedures precisely.
- Working knowledge of analytical or formulation chemistry principles.
- Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of documentation and data integrity in regulated settings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing to team goals.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and manual dexterity to operate laboratory equipment.
- Regular exposure to laboratory chemicals, solvents, and biological materials.
- Ability to wear appropriate PPE (gloves, respirator, safety glasses, lab coat, etc.).
- Mantoux TB test with negative result required; immunizations may be required depending on study assignments.
- May occasionally be exposed to animal dander or environments associated with animal research.
- Moderate noise level typical of a laboratory setting.
- Balances, pH meters, mixers, centrifuges, homogenizers, pipettes, autoclaves, and general laboratory equipment.
Hours:
Monday–Friday, 5:30 AM – 2:30 PM. Pay:
Starting at $24/hour, commensurate with experience and education. Overtime:
Paid at 1.5x rate.
