Position: Advanced Solar Field Service Technician (Operations and Maintenance)

Advanced Solar Field Service Technician (Operations and Maintenance)

Perform operation and maintenance of solar power plants at field sites near Evansville, Indiana, including preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation while ensuring safety and professionalism. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Evansville.

Core Responsibilities
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of solar utility and sub‑station equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including work orders, time logs, inventory records, and emergency schedules.
  • Troubleshoot electrical components using digital multimeters, megger, amp clamps and related tools.
  • Test and verify the proper operation of installed solar equipment.
  • Apply strong safety practices, including Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).
  • Work independently or as part of a team.
  • Operate and maintain a company motor vehicle safely and legally per company and insurance requirements.
Core Experience
  • Minimum 2 years of commercial/industrial solar power plant O&M experience (pre‑maintenance preferred).
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and installation skills.
  • Experience with solar inverters, tracker systems, or sub‑station equipment (e.g., SMA, Sungrow, TMEIC, Nextracker).
  • Ability to identify and report site issues proactively.
  • Capability to train, mentor, and develop entry‑level laborers.
  • High work ethic and self‑motivation required.
Physical/Work Environment

Safety is the top priority; candidates must comply with OSHA standards.

  • Must live within approximately 50 miles of Evansville, Indiana.
  • Work outdoors, exposed to ambient temperatures.
  • Lift and move equipment up to 50 lb.
  • Weekend and holiday work, including on‑call availability via phone/text.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time.
Compensation

Hourly rate $30.00 – $42.00, DOE.

Additional compensation may include performance bonuses, referral bonuses, equipment and fuel stipends, company vehicle, and per diem.
