Our Evansville, Indiana Field Service team has an opening for a Field Service Technician I.

The Field Service Technician I will provide customer on‑site diagnosis, maintenance, repair, installation, and/or removal of basic and routine electromechanical motors and equipment. This position will also partner with Technician II and III's and Foreman on complex jobs. The Technician may work independently on smaller accounts and/or less complex jobs.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Read work scopes to determine job status, work authorizations/limitations, description of problems, and/or expected serviceability
  • Analyze and diagnose motors and equipment prior to repair and/or removal.
  • Determine if repairs can be completed in the field or if equipment needs to be sent to the shop for repair.
  • Disassemble basic and routine electromechanical equipment noting parts identification, configuration, and condition. Assist in the disassembly of more complex equipment.
  • During disassembly, properly mark parts, take photos, and thoroughly complete paperwork to ensure accurate job completion that meet company and ISO standards.
  • Repair, install, and/or remove basic and routine motors and equipment. Assist in the repair, installation, and/or removal of more complex equipment.
  • Testing – Learning to perform.
  • Perform basic test of electromechanical equipment and document accordingly. Troubleshoot known or suspected problems.
  • Operate Megger, DC Hypot, Surge Tester, AC Hypot Volt-Ohm Meter, Amp Meters, and Feeler Gauges as needed on jobs.
  • Under supervision connect leads and test run on proper voltage.
  • Be aware of any abnormalities in test run (head, rubbing, noise, etc.).
  • Retest reassembled electromechanical equipment for proper output and operation.
  • Read and draw diagrams of motors and parts.
  • Clean & Inspect – Learning to perform.
  • Clean electromechanical equipment assemblies as needed using various methods and steps including but not limited to parts washers/steamers, caustic tanks, and glass beaders.
  • Thoroughly inspect parts for wear and damage and record any worn or damaged parts.
  • Measure for and note proper replacement parts.
  • Requisition needed items as approved by foreman.
  • Store parts accurately according to job status or work scope after the dismantling process. Ensure ISO standards are met for storage.
  • Under supervision, lift, tighten, adjust, and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work duties.
  • Maintain thorough paperwork throughout entire repair process including all test sheets from receiving unit description to Quality Control Checklist. Record accurately and on a timely basis.

Based on FLANDERS' locations and customer needs, perform the following:

  • Motor circuit analysis using PdMA equipment
  • Vibration monitoring and analysis
  • Thermography imaging
  • Installation of Electrical Control Components
  • Cryogenic cleaning
  • Advise customers on FLANDERS' products and services as it relates to existing or future needs. Refer customers to FLANDERS' sales and/or engineers for further details.
