Job Description

The EH&S Coordinator is an onsite position, responsible for day‑to‑day oversight of the transportation safety management process and assists the EH&S Manager in providing overall transportation safety support and guidance to the company. The role champions a safety culture across the company, oversees safety systems and activities to maintain regulatory compliance, provides training to CMV operators, coordinates and conducts audits and inspections of the transportation safety management process, and monitors metrics reflecting performance.

Shifts:

  • FMCSA Coordinator Role – Day / Afternoon shift:
    Tuesday – Saturday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM, 1‑hour lunch.
  • FMCSA Coordinator Role – Night shift:
    Sunday – Thursday, 11:00 PM – 8:00 AM, 1‑hour lunch.

Location: Onsite in Evansville, Indiana

Job Responsibilities ELD Management
  • Record of Duty Status (RODS) and supporting document retention.
  • Audit driver’s RODS.
  • Ensure drivers operate within hours‑of‑service limits (monitored daily).
  • Manage driver logs to ensure timely and accurate completion, complying with Federal DOT regulations including HOS violations.
  • Assist drivers with log issues and ensure FMCSA compliance.
  • Software support, interact with vendor and driver in troubleshooting and training on ELD hours‑of‑service application.
  • Monitor driver daily HOS and follow up with front‑line leaders/dispatch.
  • Monitor unassigned drive time.
  • Distribute eight‑day logs to drivers as required.
  • Provide sub‑unit lease provider ELD credentials to drivers.
  • Set up Geotab driver profiles/login credentials.
  • Archive Geotab driver profiles no longer active.
  • Monitor driver logs confirming ELD form and manner requirements – BOL, load #, annotations, etc.
  • Ensure driver logs confirm daily certification as required.
  • Ensure reports are distributed to the correct contacts and site locations.
Daily Safety Management
  • Daily interaction with drivers via phone, email, ELD.
  • Monitor ELD safety telematics daily, including speeding, harsh braking, harsh cornering.
  • Monitor ELD electronic pre/post trip.
  • Work with Freight lines EH&S and driver’s supervisor on a corrective action plan.
  • Manage driver and fleet scorecard to track overall safety and compliance performance.
  • Assist CPNA maintenance team with vehicle maintenance records for all CMVs (3rd‑party vendor may maintain files).
  • Assist CPNA maintenance team with preventative maintenance schedule on all CMVs & trailers (quarterly).
  • Report non‑compliant drivers or incidents to responsible front‑line leader and CPNA logistics/facility EH&S Manager for corrective action/discipline.
  • Assist in replacement of defective ELDs authorized by vendor and review vendor data on ELD for device tampering.
  • Pull collision information/notification data from Geotab for analysis; report findings to CPNA logistics EH&S Manager.
Office Duties
  • Maintain driver files, including MVR, CDL, medical cards.
  • Assist with general office tasks such as driver payroll and accounts receivable/payable as needed.
  • Assist with general office or logistics team tasks as deemed necessary by leadership.
Qualifications
  • Two years of transportation safety management experience.
  • OTR driving experience (preferred but not required).
  • Knowledge of federal and state safety laws, particularly FMCSR and OSHA standards.
  • Understand and apply meaningful operations and safety performance metrics.
  • Ability to plan and execute events and safety meetings.
  • Strong organization and attention to detail.
  • Adaptability, multi‑tasking ability, sense of urgency.
  • Confident decision‑making, problem‑solving, issue resolution skills.
  • Deep understanding of legal safety guidelines, especially in transportation.
  • Report‑producing ability.
  • Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment.
  • Excellent organizational and motivational skills.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Demonstrated results in establishing strategic goals and metrics for measuring success.
  • Knowledgeable and competent in behavioral‑based safety programs.
  • Knowledge and experience with transportation systems and technology.
  • Strong computer application skills, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
