Class B City Driver

About the Role

Dohrn Transfer is a leading Midwest LTL carrier providing less‑than‑truckload, truckload, and value‑added services throughout a 10‑state service area. The company is seeking a Full Time Class B Driver at our Evansville, IN Terminal. Drivers are home daily and receive a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.

Compensation and Incentives

Pay starts at $28.06 per hour and increases to $31.09 per hour after the first year. Dayshift, Monday‑Friday. Full‑time drivers receive a quarterly safety incentive bonus of $250, potentially up to $1,000 annually.

Drive a straight truck between customer locations to deliver and pick up freight.

• Drive a commercial vehicle safely while picking up and delivering general freight.
• Load and unload the truck either individually or with assistance from dockworkers; use mechanical freight handling equipment where available.
• Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of freight.
• Secure freight through strapping or other methods as required.
• Inspect the vehicle for defects and safe operating conditions as required by law and company policy.
• Comply with all federal requirements regarding the transportation of hazardous materials.
• Operate a straight truck in all conditions in accordance with federal regulations, observing hours‑of‑service limitations and required off‑duty periods.
• Maintain records required for compliance with state and federal regulations, including driver logs.
• Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and all federal, state, and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.

• Minimum age of 21.
• At least one year of verifiable Class B equipment experience.
• Pass a road test administered by a Dohrn Transfer driver trainer.
• Possess, or obtain within the required period, Hazardous Material and Tanker endorsements on a valid driver’s license issued by the resident state.
• Hold only one valid CDL issued by the resident state; provide recent license information if transferred.
• No record of a DUI/OWI or reckless driving within the past five years.
• Maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
• Pass a Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). examination and functional screen.
• Consent to a pre‑employment drug screen and a controlled substance/alcohol test; past three‑year results must be negative.
• Consent to a 10‑year work‑history check; disclose any employment gaps of 30 days or more.
• Ability to read and write English and perform simple mathematical calculations.
• Employment is at‑will; no guarantee of duration.

• Grip, lift, and carry up to 100 pounds.
• Lift up to 100 pounds from ground level to 45 inches.
• Front‑carry up to 100 pounds for 250 feet.
• Push/pull up to 60 pounds of horizontal force.
• Sit up to 10 hours per day; stand and walk frequently.
• Climb, squat, crouch, balance, or kneel occasionally; crawl rarely.
• Reach frequently while operating the vehicle.
• Grasp and handle freight while loading/unloading and operating the trailer.
• Communicate with coworkers and customers regularly.
• Use vision continuously while driving and inspecting the truck.
• Use smell occasionally to check for leaks.
• Use hearing frequently for warning sounds.
• May be exposed to extreme temperatures, humidity, wetness, dust, gas, fumes, or chemicals.
