Job DescriptionEverett Public Schools seeks an enthusiastic and qualified Special Education teacher to lead an in‑person Extended School Year Program. The program provides academic support to address learning loss and maintain skills aligned with each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
Responsibilities- Plan and implement daily routines and developmentally appropriate activities for students in small‑group classrooms, based on their IEPs.
- Collect data on students’ IEP objectives and report progress at the end of the program.
- Collaborate with ancillary services staff to implement IEP services.
- Advise and directly oversee paraprofessionals within the classroom.
- Use best practices in ELA and mathematics to encourage higher‑order and critical thinking, and collaboration for students with disabilities.
- Implement specific literacy‑based strategies for summer school and participate in coaching opportunities.
- Use district‑provided technology and curricula to create engaging lessons aligned with 21st‑century skills.
- Manage classroom behavior with inclusive strategies that motivate and empower students.
- Incorporate Social Emotional Learning standards to promote confidence, team‑building, and decision‑making.
- Utilize inclusive practices for students with disabilities and English language learners.
- Communicate with families regularly using culturally responsive strategies for two‑way conversation.
- Contribute to initiatives and events assigned by the Principal, Assistant Principal, and/or ESY Coordinator.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education and/or Liberal Arts.
- Massachusetts Teaching Licensure in Elementary Education, Early Childhood, Special Education, English as a Second Language, or related fields.
- SEI Endorsement.
- Master’s Degree in Education.
- 3+ years of experience working with special education students.
- Current EPS employee in good standing.
- Dual Licensure and/or experience in Special Education and/or English as a Second Language.
- Previous experience in the Extended School Year.
- Foreign language proficiency.
July 6, 2026 – July 31, 2026, 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Remuneration$40 per hour, not to exceed $7,350. Position type: stipend.
