Description:
DAY 6 is an evening program to re-engage students who have dropped out of Everett High School. The mission of our Day 6 is to identify those who have dropped out of Everett High School and re-engage them. It is our understanding that many students want to finish high school but often face further barriers that exclude them from opportunities for success.
The goal
is to expand our re-engagement efforts by transforming EHS into a Saturday/Night Center for students who have dropped out or are at risk of dropping out. We are looking for an ELA teacher to support re-engaged students and staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Massachusetts Teaching Licensure
- SEI Endorsement
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Education or a related field.
- Current ELA teacher at Everett High School with knowledge of HQIM and programs used in the department.
- Experience using educational technology tools to support interactive learning.
- Strong ability to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.
Essential Duties:
- Plan and facilitate ELA lessons for in-person and hybrid learning models, aligning them with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks.
- Teach daily mini-lessons in ELA to small groups of students, with varying levels of need.
- Create assignments for students to complete outside of school time on a technology learning platform.
- Monitor students’ completion of assignments and provide feedback on their progress to students.
- Able to use or willing to learn a technology learning platform to monitor students’ progress.
- Utilize inclusive practices and SEI strategies for students on IEPs and English Learners.
- Embrace a strong growth mindset and engage in professional development that addresses the challenges of urban education to close opportunity gaps.
- Collaborate with the School Counselor to refer students who require social-emotional support.
- Collaborate with Special Education leadership and teacher colleagues to review IEPs and ensure all accommodations are adequately and consistently delivered.
Dates: The PROGRAM runs from September to June, following the school calendar.
Times: Mondays 4 pm - 6 pm and Wednesdays 4 pm - 6 pm
Setting: In person
Stipend Rate: up to $7,000 ($40/hr) SY 27
