About Encore Boston Harbor

Encore Boston Harbor is a luxury global destination gaming resort featuring 671 hotel rooms with sweeping views of the Boston skyline and Boston Harbor, an ultra‑premium spa, luxury retail, high‑end dining, and state‑of‑the‑art ballroom and meeting spaces. At a total cost of $2.6 billion, it is the largest private single‑phase development in the history of the Commonwealth. Situated on the waterfront along the Mystic River and connected to Boston Harbor, it includes a six‑acre park along the water featuring a harbor walk, an events lawn, public viewing areas, ornate floral displays, and retail and dining experiences that overlook the Encore Harbor Walk.

We are looking for passionate & driven Wine Professionals to join our team. Candidates must have at least two years of Sommelier experience in a full‑service wine program and previous work experience as a Food Server is preferred.

Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure all Encore Boston Harbor core values, property and department standards are implemented.
  • Participate in short‑ and long‑term departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; monitor and evaluate operational effectiveness; effect changes required for improvement.
  • Actively contribute to departmental performance and the accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of departmental policies and procedures; record and report.
  • Follow all applicable internal policies, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and property‑wide controls.
  • Deliver and maintain a maximum level of property‑wide service and satisfaction.
  • Contribute to company‑wide communication and best practices.
  • Keep informed of all new developments within the department.
  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet deadlines, often in stressful and high‑pressure situations.
  • Stay fully informed of all changes on the Wine List; be able to explain additions or subtractions with confidence.
  • Maintain wine storage areas and keep accurate inventory.
  • Develop and maintain extensive knowledge of the outlet wine list.
  • Pair and suggest wines that best complement food menu items while working with taste preference and budget parameters of the guest.
  • Polish all glassware and associated mise‑en‑place used for wine service such as coasters.
  • Fold linens that may be needed for wine service.
  • Be familiar with all procedural SOPs, especially regarding RFB/Comp guests.
  • When necessary, assist with VIP service that may be required in the Casino or Hotel Tower.
  • Work with safety as a priority and follow department and company safety standards.
  • Maintain relevant knowledge of industry through continuing education and training.
  • Perform any other job‑related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Must obtain and maintain registration or a license issued by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission and any other required licensing or active work cards.
  • Minimum Level I Sommelier Certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers or equivalent.
  • High school degree or equivalent required; culinary arts, hospitality or related education or experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of Sommelier experience (preferred).
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office are a plus.
  • Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Advanced service and wine knowledge, including vintages, regions, and food pairings, preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents; converse in English; second language is a plus.
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations and manage reports.
Physical Demands & Work Environment

Physical demands include regular standing, walking, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, and other activities described in the job duties. The work environment can be moderately to loud, especially in kitchen or back‑of‑house areas, and may require varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property.
