Position SummaryQualitel is seeking a Senior Cost Accountant to manage and analyze standard costs, inventory valuation, and manufacturing variances across our production operations. Reporting directly to the CFO, this role partners closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Finance leadership to ensure accurate cost data, drive margin improvement, and support strategic decision-making in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, maintain, and analyze standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead
- Prepare and review monthly variance analyses (purchase price, labor, overhead, and yield variances) and report findings to management
- Support month-end close processes related to inventory valuation, WIP, and cost of goods sold
- Perform periodic physical inventory counts and cycle counts; investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Analyze product margins and provide cost insights to support pricing and quoting decisions
- Partner with Operations and Supply Chain to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements
- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting related to manufacturing costs
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and company accounting policies
- Support internal and external audits with cost accounting documentation and analysis
- Maintain and improve cost accounting processes and reporting within the company's ERP system
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 3-5 years of progressive cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting
- Experience with ERP systems required; experience with Aptean/Intuitive a strong plus
- Advanced Excel skills required; experience with financial modeling and data analysis
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- CMA or CPA a plus, but not required
- Experience in aerospace, defense, or regulated manufacturing industries a plus
- Experience leveraging AI tools to improve reporting, analysis, or process efficiency a plus
