About the DepartmentThis position works closely with the Recreation Supervisor in the Recreation Information Office. Provides administrative and customer service support for the Parks Department, serving as the primary public contact for department services and facilities. Responds to a high volume of inquiries from residents, community organizations, and stakeholders, addressing concerns, resolving complaints, providing information, and coordinating with department staff to ensure timely and accurate responses.
Processes facility and park rental applications, collects and reconciles payments, prepares permits and supporting documentation for special use requests, and maintains records in accordance with municipal policies and procedures. Supports daily office operations through data entry, records management, scheduling, correspondence, and coordination with internal departments and external partners to ensure efficient delivery of public services.
Perform varied responsible office support work of above average difficulty in various departments throughout the City typically without specific instructions and requiring considerable knowledge of office support functions erally, work in this class is characterized by tasks requiring the operation of computers and the utilization of various software programs, preparing and maintaining spreadsheets and similar computer support activities standard to the area of assignment.
Often the work is performed under deadline situations with infrequent supervision and requires the ability to independently prioritize work. Assignments may require considerable liaison with other employees, departments or agencies and with the general public. Results of work performed impact the accomplishment of the goals and objectives of the assigned work area as well as the accuracy, reliability and acceptability of its processes or services.
Individuals in this class may monitor or train less experienced individuals or employees assigned to a lower classification and may check in-progress and completed work for accuracy. Work guidelines are available in the form of regulations, policies, procedures and instructions. Employees must use considerable initiative and judgment in interpreting or adapting guidelines. Work is reviewed in progress and upon completion for thoroughness, accuracy, timeliness and compliance with regulations, policies and procedures.
