About the Position
This position reports directly to the Records Completion Unit Supervisor and supports the organization’s mission by overseeing the operations of the Records Completion Unit (RCU) including scheduling, training, and reviewing the key work activities and essential functions of the employees assigned to this unit. The position is self‑directed or assigned by the unit supervisor. The position is the section lead and interacts with Assistant Division Commander, unit supervisors, other peer leads, and other internal and external stakeholders to accomplish work.

The Justice Information Division (JID) is comprised of four Sections:
Collision Records Section, ACCESS Section, Identification and Background Section and Criminal History Records Section and supports the Washington State Patrol’s mission to make a difference every day by enhancing the safety and security of our state through the accurate collection, maintenance, and dissemination of criminal justice information.

- Act as a unit leader and assume basic supervisory duties in the absence of the unit supervisor.
- Organize and prioritize work of others to manage multiple tasks and/or projects.
- Make recommendations to the supervisor and executive leadership on personnel matters and process improvements.
- Coordinate functional requirements of the section with ITD resources.
- Identify problems and analyze/evaluate operating deficiencies.
- Act as a subject matter expert for criminal history records information.
- Develop and deliver business processes and procedures for training to ensure Criminal Justice Information Specialists comply with operational requirements.
- High school graduation or GED.
- Three years maintaining or processing offender records in an adult correctional, criminal justice, or law enforcement agency.
- College level coursework in criminal justice, business administration, accounting, social science, or a related field will substitute one year of experience for each year of experience.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Successful completion of a pre‑employment polygraph examination and background investigation.
- Ability to obtain a Central Computerized Enforcement Service System (ACCESS) Level 1 certification within six months of start date.
