DSHS’s Home & Community Living Administration (HCLA) WCF is hiring team members. As an Administrative Assistant 1, you’ll play a key role in keeping Region 3 operations running smoothly by providing administrative support to leadership and ensuring efficient daily operations of offices. We are currently hiring two Administrative Assistant 1s based out of the Vancouver and Tumwater offices. This is a hybrid opportunity, with two in-office days required per week. May require regional travel to cover offices in Vancouver, Kelso, Chehalis, Tumwater and Lakewood.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate administrative operations and workflow across six units and regional partners.
  • Manage assessor schedules, intake coordination, and geographic workload balancing.
  • Support field operations through staff safety check‑ins, vehicle coordination, travel, and meeting logistics.
  • Track employee onboarding, required training, and professional development.
  • Provide administrative support to leadership, including communications, meeting coordination, correspondence, and action tracking.
  • Assist with customer service and appeals tracking, including beneficiary follow‑up.
  • Support office operations through supply ordering, purchasing, mail coordination, and other administrative duties as needed.
Qualifications
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team with a strong sense of reliability, professionalism, and accountability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with staff, external agencies, and diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (especially Excel and Access), with strong keyboarding and data management skills.
  • Knowledge of office practices, data collection methods, applicable policies, and relevant Washington State laws (RCW 10.77 and 71.05).
Eligibility
  • Professionals with a High School diploma or equivalent AND one year of clerical, office or administrative experience.
  • Experience working in a medical or legal office with scheduling practices and software is preferred.
Additional Information
  • Work schedule:

    8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
