Job Title: Kids Club Attendant

Reports to: Kids Club Director

Status: Non-Exempt

Department: Kids Club

Schedule: Part-Time Weekday Mornings

Position Summary:

The Day Care Attendant is responsible for providing safe and quality plans for children while parents use the Columbia Athletic Club. This position requires constant care and attention to the children. The Day Care Attendant assures that the children and Day Care room are safe and clean. The Day Care Attendant must enjoy and appreciate young children. Performance of this position is reviewed in terms of the Day Care.

Attendant's ability to positively interact with children and members, maintain control over the Day Care room and children, and handle Day Care paperwork accurately.

Critical Success Factors:
  • Provide total care and welfare to the children in the Day Care room.
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of the Day Care room.
  • Impart constant and positive supervision, attention, and interaction with the children.
  • Pay close attention to the special needs and discipline of the children.
  • Watching the general health of the children and reporting unusual matters to the parent or supervisor.
  • Organized in handling Day Care paperwork.
Essential Duties:
  • Keep the Day Care room safe, picked up, and organized.
  • Vacuum Day Care room as needed.
  • Keep the Day Care room free of any sharp or hazardous objects.
  • Play with children including reading, drawing and games.
  • Hold children and comfort them as necessary.
  • Keep orderly and positive interactions between children.
  • Keep all children in the Day Care room.
  • Discipline children when required.
  • Alert parents when a child needs special attention or cannot interact with other children in a constructive manner.
  • Check each child for signs of ill health.
  • Remove ill children from Day Care room.
  • Keep toys clean and disinfected.
  • Keep Day Care room and toys updated.
  • Make sure the child is returned to the proper parent.
  • Handle reservations and schedule for Day Care.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance.
  • Keep accurate records of amounts owed by members.
  • Keep accurate medical records on children.
  • Follow all rules and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills And Abilities

Required:
  • Knowledge of general childcare techniques.
  • Knowledge of health and safety precautions concerning children.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and healthful environment.
  • Ability to relate to and entertain children.
  • Ability to develop rapport with parents showing concern and attention to any special care requirement.
Qualifications:
  • Baby-sitting/child-care experience in a group setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work lovingly and positively with children.
  • CPR certified.
  • Available to work varied schedules including nights and weekends.
