Casual​/PT Traffic Anchor​/Editor

Responsibilities

• Provide timely and useful information to commuters planning their drives.
• Announce the latest accidents and traffic delays.
• Read traffic reports, commercials and public service messages to listeners.
• Gather information from a variety of in-take sources; canvass local, state and national traffic news to determine significance.
• Identify, research and create copy regarding traffic and weather to feature during on‑air shift; edit content using digital audio editing software.
• Manage information; keep the facts straight and ensure details are accurate.
• Keep website up to date.
• Prepare written content, visual images, audio and video footage for websites, blogs or other social media platforms.

• Requires flexibility in work schedule, including regular weekend and holiday hours as well as weekday fill‑in shifts as available.

• Demonstrated strong experience in Microsoft Office application, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint.
• Knowledge of the local coverage area geography and roadways, mass transit and traffic patterns.
• Pleasant, charismatic and well‑controlled voice; excellent pronunciation.
• Adept at working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑oriented, “newsroom‑like” collaborative environment.
• Excellent writing and editing skills; excellent grammar.
• Strong attention to details, following up until issues are resolved.
• Ability to plan and organize, set priorities and multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
• Understanding of police scanners is a plus.
• Previous broadcast experience.

• Respect for others and a strong belief that others should do this in return.
• Ability to work within prescribed guidelines without needing close supervision.
• Problem‑solving skills within established procedures.
• Understanding of when to seek guidance for unforeseen problems.

Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job‑related qualifications and alignment with market data. $18.00 - $20.55.
