Purpose:The Energy Assistance Program is hiring up to two (2) Temporary Energy Assistant I positions that are funded through the Low-Income Household Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). These positions will be full time with benefits and will work up to six months.
This is a hybrid position, and successful candidates will be required to work in the office at least 2 to 3 days per week. You may opt to work in the office 5 days per week. To work remotely, you must have high-speed internet and a private office space.
PositionPurpose:
The successful candidates will be able to handle high volumes of paper and digital applications while ensuring the protection of personal information. They will enjoy a rewarding, fast-paced team environment and are able to work effectively in the office and remotely.
About You:We are looking for dynamic individuals with excellent computer skills. They must be able to provide direct services in person and on the phone to a very diverse population including low-income, seniors, people with limited English, people with disabilities, and Veterans.
These individuals must have the ability to learn and retain program-related information quickly and continuously. They must be able to communicate professionally and effectively when encountering disgruntled or challenged clients in crisis.

BASIC FUNCTIONTo interview low-income clients and establish their eligibility for grant funded energy and weatherization programs. Process necessary documents for compliance with regulations.
Statement of EssentialJob Duties
Job Duties
One (1) year of experience in Energy/Weatherization programs performing a variety of office work, interviewing and computer experience; OR, any equivalent combination of training and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. LIHEAP Energy Assistance Program experience preferred. Must pass job related tests.
Preferred QualificationsLIHEAP Energy Assistance Program experience preferred.
Knowledge and AbilitiesKnowledge of:
- computers, data entry and standard software programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel
- standard office practices and procedures and all related office work
- standard human service client protocol including interview techniques, client confidentiality requirements, and professional conduct
Ability to:
- perform mathematical computations
- communicate effectively with a diverse population
- learn and retain a complex series of rules and regulations to determine eligibility and benefits
- explain complex rules, policies and procedures in a concise easy to understand manner
- read, interpret and enter data accurately and rapidly
- maintain an organized work setting, tracking forms and applications
