Fitch Design Company is a fast-paced residential design and renovation firm. We handle all architecture, interior design, and permitting in-house, guiding complex residential renovations and small commercial projects from initial concept to approved permit. We are a small, highly collaborative team where technical execution is paramount.

We are seeking an experienced Residential Job Captain / Technical Drafter who can take schematic designs and independently develop them into comprehensive, permit-ready construction document sets.

This is not an entry-level position or a conceptual design role. You must possess a deep, practical understanding of light-frame wood construction, complex roof framing layouts, and local building/energy code compliance.

• Permit-Ready CD Sets: Independently produce fully detailed construction document sets, including foundation plans, floor plans, framing plans, exterior/interior elevations, and building sections.
• Roof System & Structural Detailing: Correctly draft and detail complex roof systems, including roof framing layouts, rafter/truss intersections, and connection details.
• Code Compliance: Research and apply local building codes and zoning laws. Specifically, you must be comfortable calculating and formatting local residential energy code compliance credits/forms.
• Coordination & Revisions: Coordinate plans with engineering markups and accurately process structural redlines and city permit correction notices.

• Experience: 5+ years of dedicated, professional residential drafting experience within the US.
• Technical Knowledge: Exceptional understanding of residential construction methods, wood framing, and standard architectural detailing.
• Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD is required. Professional experience using Chief Architect is a major plus.
• Education: A degree or technical diploma in drafting, construction technology, or architecture is preferred, but equivalent professional residential drafting experience is fully accepted.
