Medical Physicist

The Department of Radiation Oncology of the University of Washington (UW) School of Medicine, Seattle, WA invites applications for a staff Medical Physicist position. The candidate will contribute to the clinical mission of the department, which hosts 34 faculty medical physicists, 3 staff physicists, 40 physicians, 12 advanced practice providers, and 15 residents. The role reports to the Director of Medical Physics and is located primarily at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC) Peninsula in Poulsbo, WA.

This practice treats approximately 30 patients per day on one linear accelerator, with an additional brachytherapy service for prostate implants. The physicist supports the planning and delivery of radiotherapy, including external beam, brachytherapy, treatment planning, dosimetry, verification, quality assurance, staff training, and consults with other providers and patients.

• Quality assurance of linear accelerators (20%)
• Imaging and brachytherapy equipment QA (10%)
• Brachytherapy procedures (10%)
• Plan and chart review (30%)
• Routine clinical support (20%)
• Commissioning, maintenance, and improvement of equipment (10%)

• Master's degree in medical physics or a related field
• At least 2 years of clinical experience in medical physics
• Board Certified or Board eligible in therapeutic radiological physics by the American Board of Radiology or equivalent
• Equivalents in education or experience may substitute for all minimum qualifications, except where a license, certification, or registration is required by law
