This is a 1.0 FTE non-continuing contract Occupational Therapist position effective the beginning of the 26/27 school year through December 1, 2026. Location and time of day are TBD.
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate certificate as an Occupational Therapist.
Applicants with a master's degree in occupational therapy are encouraged to apply. We will assist selected candidates with obtaining an Educational Staff Associate certificate. JOB TITLE:
OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide occupational therapy and related evaluations for children as determined by the evaluation and IEP team.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Organize, plan and implement a program of evaluation or treatment of students with ?ne motor and/or sensory needs that adversely a?ect their educational progress.
* Plan appropriate treatment programs and develop and maintain materials necessary for implementation of this program.
* Conduct a therapy program which aids the individual to receive a free, appropriate public educational program as described in the student's IEP.
* Maintain records, submit reports and evaluate the e?ectiveness of the program.
* Engage in continuing education studies which ensures continuous professional growth and participate in providing in-service education for school sta?.
* Plan and provide clear and intentional focused instruction based upon individual student IEP goals using state standards, and subject matter content.
* Recognize individual student learning and cultural needs and develop strategies to address those needs for the purpose of promoting individual achievement.
* Foster and manage a safe, positive learning environment for the purpose of promoting e?ective student behavior and success.
* Recognize individual student cultural needs and develop strategies to address those needs for the purpose of promoting individual success.
* Communicate and collaborate with parents and school community for the purpose of fostering student success and achievement and meeting special education laws and policies.
* Participate in and facilitate various meetings for the purpose of addressing student goals and needs, and to meet laws and policies.
* Engage in continuing education studies which insures professional growth.
* Maintain and process accurate records/documents as required by state and federal regulations and district policy.
* Direct the work of assigned classi?ed sta?.
* Ful?ll legal responsibilities, implement, and comply with federal and state laws, district policies and other guiding principles, and State Code of Professional Conduct.
* Perform other duties of similar scope and function.
* Maintain consistent attendance and conform to regular work hours speci?ed under contract.
JOB REQUIREMENTS; MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include:
* Knowledge and skill in designing and conducting specialized instruction, remediation, and evaluation.
* Knowledge of and commitment to each child, taking into consideration individual background and characteristics, including cultural diversity, English language learners, and special education students.
* Knowledge of applicable Washington State and federal rules and regulations. Knowledge of subject matter/course content relevant to assignment.
* Knowledge and understanding of child development and ability to e?ectively meet developmental needs of students.
* Ability to address culturally responsive needs of children and families. Ability to assess and evaluate student progress and achievement.
* Knowledge of and skills in using e?ective instructional strategies and practices, including cultural responsiveness.
* Demonstrated competent knowledge and skill in designing and conducting specialized instruction, remediation, and evaluation.
* Ability to adapt and modify techniques and materials for e?ectiveness.
* Ability to interact and collaborate positively and e?ectively with parents, students, sta? and administrators.
* Ability to build an environment of trust, teamwork and e?ective communication.
