Responsibilities
  • Determine and implement reasonable accommodations to remove access barriers for students with disabilities in curricular and co‑curricular environments;
  • Implement approved academic adjustments (e.g., exam modifications) for pregnant/parenting students and/or students navigating temporary medical conditions;
  • Share resources with students with disabilities requesting MPRE and/or Bar Exam accommodations;
  • Promote Universal Design for Learning through collaboration with faculty and staff across the Law Center;
  • Engage with students with disabilities in an interactive process to determine reasonable accommodations;
  • Communicate with Law Center faculty to facilitate academic accommodations;
  • Collaborate with campus partners to ensure an accessible curricular and co‑curricular experience for students.
Work Interactions

The Assistant Director works directly with JD and LL.M. students seeking accessibility‑related accommodations. The incumbent regularly consults with the OAS Assistant/Associate Directors to review accommodation requests and with Law Center faculty to facilitate classroom accommodations. The assistant also interacts with various campus partners, including the Office of the Registrar, Information Systems Technology, and Planning & Facilities Management to ensure that students' access needs are met.

Periodic coordination with outside vendors who provide services for blind, deaf, and other accommodated students, including scheduling and coordinating implementation of ASL interpreters and CART writers, is also part of the role.

Requirements And Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in higher education administration, special education, rehabilitation counseling, human services, or another relevant discipline preferred;
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities in an academic environment;
  • Familiarity with the application of Section
    504 and the ADA in the higher education setting, and ability to recognize and understand regulatory requirements associated with disability and accommodation issues;
  • Ability to interpret medical, psychological, neuropsychological, and educational documentation;
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies and their application to students with disabilities in higher education preferred;
  • Excellent judgment and discretion in managing confidential information;
  • Ability to enthusiastically support and interact with people of diverse ages, backgrounds, experiences, and personality types;
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and careful attention to detail;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to balance collaborative and independent work;
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Adobe.
Work Mode Designation

This position has been designated as Hybrid
. Work mode designations are regularly reviewed to meet the evolving needs of the University and may change accordingly.

Pay Range

The projected compensation for this position is $41,926.00 – $65,090.00. Salary determination considers individual qualifications, experience, education, skills and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
