Salary Range: $26.00 – 29.00/hour
Job Description: Reports to the Marysville based Project Manager. The Specification Development and Advance Execution Support (SDAES) Division is responsible for conducting ship checks onboard Navy Vessels per Work Notifications. A ship check reviews the brokered WN for accuracy, scope, identifies components & equipment, system piping, and ship structure to describe existing conditions. Completed checks are reported with sketches & photos for planner use.
Ship checkers progress to specification planners with experience.
Job Requirements / Skill Sets:
- Conduct ship checks onboard Navy vessels using drawings and references to validate work notifications, determine scope, and provide amplifying information to planners.
- Identify interferences and special circumstances impacting planning.
- Document ship checks with detailed information and photographs on approved forms in PDF for uploading into NMD.
- Lift, carry, transport heavy equipment; minimum requirement 30 lbs.
- Self‑starter, works well with others.
- Knowledge of Navy ship compartmentation & layout.
- Read, understand, validate work notifications and scope of work.
- Strong writing & communication skills for verbal & written findings.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office & Adobe programs.
- Knowledge of Navy Structural, Mechanical, Piping, Electrical systems.
- 10% overseas travel; must obtain Passport, CAC or DBIDs pass.
- Valid Driver’s License.
Education Requirements: High School diploma or GED plus at least two years of technical/vocational training, Navy apprenticeship or equivalent;
Associate’s degree or higher preferred.
Security Clearance / Naval Facility Access: U.S. citizenship; eligible for and maintain a U.S. Secret Clearance; access to military facilities, naval and private shipyards; valid U.S. Passport.
