Position Overview

The Project Engineer plays a key role in supporting Project Managers by coordinating project activities, maintaining accurate documentation, and facilitating effective communication across teams. This role contributes to the success of fabrication projects by partnering with field supervisors, engineers, detailers, and leadership to help ensure quality, efficiency, and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the bidding process and contribute to securing new projects by taking clients' missions as our own, approaching each opportunity with curiosity, ownership, and a commitment to turning complexity into clarity.
  • Assist with estimating and negotiating change orders with professionalism and precision, demonstrating deepening knowledge of our craft and strong attention to detail.
  • Track and forecast labor hours and material costs and provide regular updates on overall project performance to ensure projects remain accurate, transparent, and financially aligned.
  • Support procurement efforts for major equipment and subcontractor services reinforcing our commitment to quality and reliable delivery.
  • Monitor delivery timelines and help expedite key materials and equipment as needed to keep the project on schedule and support predictable outcomes for the field.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of project contracts, scopes of work, and specifications with an ownership mindset and a focus on clarity.
  • Organize and manage project documentation per company and contractual standards reflecting accountability and respect for process.
  • Collaborate with field supervisors to plan and schedule project tasks, including subcontractor coordination, supporting teamwork and clear communication across all stakeholders.
  • Review contract drawings, detailed drawings, and specifications to support project execution.
  • Prepare work packages for fabrication shops, including drawing reviews, material takeoffs, procurement, and labor budget planning.
  • Ensure compliance with the safety program on all job sites.
  • Demonstrate reliable, regular attendance as an essential function of the role.
  • Use project management and collaboration tools, including MS Outlook, Excel, Word, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, One Drive, Teams, SharePoint, BIM
    360, Viewpoint Team, Vista, and Revit.
  • Secondary Responsibilities
  • Maintain positive client, trust‑based relationships throughout the project lifecycle, reflecting professionalism and a customer‑first mindset.
  • Continue building knowledge of mechanical systems, including engineering, estimating, construction practices, and financial management, demonstrating growth, initiative, and long‑term commitment to excellence.

    Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field.
  • 0–2 years of relevant experience required.
  • Required Licensing and Other Certifications
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
