SUMMARY:

engineering supporting heavy maintenance base operations at aircraft MRO's. Acts as Supervisor over technicians to ensure airworthiness of heavy commercial aircraft.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

* Providing technical dispositions (via Engineering Authorizations) and guidance for aircraft issues that exceed published limits for structural damage including sheet metal and composite repairs. This often includes performing a structural analysis.

* Providing work deviation authorization, interpretation of service documents & Engineering Orders.

* Providing options for repairing versus replacing a part to minimize financial impact.

* Providing aircraft system trouble shooting assistance to Base Maintenance and delegation of duties to junior technicians.

* Attending daily production meeting and pre-induction meeting to ensure timely support.

* Providing on-site engineering assistance for significantly damaged line aircraft as required.

* Coordinating events/issues with Engineering Fleet Groups for additional action, troubleshooting and follow-up.

* Monitoring trends and recurring discrepancies requiring corrective action. Developing Typical Repairs and manual supplement to eliminate repetitive BA requests.

EDUCATION:

* BS Degree (or higher) in Aeronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering

* Two plus (2+) years in specific technical discipline

* FAA licensing

Required Unique

Skills:

* Ability to perform structural analysis to substantiate repairs

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Strong investigative, analytical, and problem solving skills

* Self-motivated, conscientious and ability to prioritize multiple tasks

* Knowledge of FARs, FAA policies, and vendor manual (AMM, IPC, CMM)

* Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule to meet internal customer's needs

* Aircraft/airline/MRO aviation engineering experience desired
