General Summary

This position is accountable for coordinating the planning, implementation, and maintenance of onsite construction technology and construction quality activities for regional operations to ensure operational effectiveness. The role requires consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in analyzing and interpreting information before making reasoned recommendations.

Responsibilities
  • Implement the Construction Quality Management System to ensure construction projects meet quality standards by analyzing and interpreting results and identifying opportunities for innovation and technology adoption in the field.
  • Analyze customer and project requirements and internal cost structure to support the development of project budgets.
  • Manage Company Incident Tracker data and process to ensure accurate results are captured and tracked, seeking out data trends that drive operational improvement.
  • Facilitate the CLE process to ensure lessons learned are shared and best practices are developed.
  • Coordinate field‑based technology capabilities across operations to ensure a valid understanding of our capabilities and processes.
  • Provide technical support and adoption of technology with construction operations to ensure the project objectives are achieved.
  • Develop, implement, and administer engineering technology procedures and other work controlling documents to ensure clarification of process and best practices.
  • Support projects by analyzing project data and communicating recommended courses of action, including the propriety of obtaining third‑party verification of testing results.
  • Interpret Granite internal and owner/agency requirements and prepare quality control plans.
  • Use quality control software to prepare tracking databases designed to ensure satisfactory project completion.
  • Evaluate vendor performance, including services provided by third‑party engineering firms or technology vendors.
  • Facilitate regular quality meetings to review construction trends, emerging technologies, rework data, and corrective/preventative actions, fostering continuous improvement and cross‑functional collaboration.
  • Apply substantive expertise during pre‑bid, construction, and post‑construction phases of a project by working with materials, construction, and estimating teams to ensure quality standards and project profitability are achieved and bonus potential is maximized.
  • Evaluate proposed courses of action for safety, contract compliance, and profitability and propose alternative courses of action where appropriate.
  • Assist with customer service issues to ensure customer satisfaction levels are maintained.
  • Promote Granite’s safety procedures, including compliance with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations, to maintain a safe working environment.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    BS in Engineering or related field required. Registered Professional Engineer desired.
  • Work Experience:

    4+ years of experience, including advanced knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes, standards, and an understanding of materials, ESG, and other functional roles.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    All MS Office Products, AGTEK Take‑off, HCSS, Heavy Bids, and Primavera Scheduling Software.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    Strong organizational skills; excellent communication and interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to manage projects through varied disciplines; passion for technology and technology adoption; self‑motivated.
  • Physical Demand:
    Regularly required to talk and hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands to operate a computer keyboard, reach with hands and arms, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; close vision required.
  • Additional Requirements:

    Valid driver’s license and ability to drive; ability and willingness to abide by Granite’s Code of Conduct on a daily basis.
  • Safety:
    This is a safety‑sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing requirements, including pre‑employment and random testing.
Benefits and Compensation

Base Salary Range: $79,972.00 – $. Pay may vary based upon relevant experience, skills, location, and education among other factors.
