Position: AUTOCAD TECHNICIAN

Description

Snohomish County Facilities & Fleet is seeking a temporary Auto Cad Technician to support the Project and Maintenance teams. The role requires knowledge of reading blueprints, using AutoCAD to develop floor plans, and utilizing software programs for upload.

Job Summary

To perform technical computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) in support of facility-related projects. Create closed boundary polylines for space planning, facility management, or building area calculations and/or chargebacks.

Job Duties
  • Provides assistance in interpreting floor plans, entering polyline data using AutoCAD and interfacing with Facilities computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Supports the entry, coding, and organization of data, including typing tabular information into the CMMS database.
  • Helps modify and edit AutoCAD drawings in accordance with established specifications and procedures.
  • Contributes to the preparation of reports and related materials, as assigned.
  • Supports operation of computer equipment and software as required.
  • Aids in preparing documents and procedures and maintains records of completed assignments.
Minimum Qualifications

Associate of Arts degree or certificate in Computer-Aided Drafting (CADD), proficiency in 2D AutoCAD software, strong attention to detail, understanding of drafting standards, basic technical drawing skills, and 150+ hours of software experience or equivalent training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency in data management and automation skills, working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, and some experience with GIS and SQL.

Knowledge and Abilities
  • Principles and practices of commercial facility drawings.
  • AutoCAD skills to input, manipulate, or edit floor plans.
  • Use of AutoCAD to produce floor plans used to locate people and equipment.
  • Understanding of the organization, structure and function of county government.
  • Business writing and report preparation.
  • Maintaining required records and preparing necessary reports.
  • Application of relevant federal, state and local laws, codes, rules, regulations and guidelines.
  • Research and analysis techniques.
  • Client interaction and project management.

  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in a multicultural environment.
  • Prepare clear and concise written reports and presentations.
  • Prioritize and resolve problems.
  • Exercise initiative and judgment, making decisions within the scope of assigned responsibility.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships with elected officials, department heads, associates, subordinates and the general public.
  • Analyze and solve work-related problems.
Working Conditions

The work is performed in the usual office environment.
