Equipment And Tool Engineer

Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking equipment and tool engineers to support multiple positions across our teams in Puget Sound, Washington. A successful candidate in this role will have passion, creativity, and an insatiable desire for process improvement and efficiency. They will also have a strong desire to be out on the production floor, interacting with mechanics, safety, and tool makers, and directly supporting the production system.

In production engineering, we need highly responsible professionals committed to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and integrity. This position is a production engineering role and requires direct interfacing with the people and equipment on the production floor. A typical day could include: spending up to 8 hours on feet standing/walking on the production floor, climbing ladders or stairs to access equipment, working at heights or in tight spaces, wearing required PPE.

Primary responsibilities include investigating and developing equipment and tooling concepts and specifications to satisfy aerospace product design and build requirements. Performing tool liaison activities to support tool fabrication and production use, participating in design reviews, collecting design requirements, creating and revising drawings and models to support the build plan, creating specifications and purchase requests for the acquisition of new equipment and tooling from external vendors, checking designs for compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic factors and regulatory requirements, developing and documenting equipment and tooling inspection and usage instructions, preventative maintenance plans, and supporting user training development, and managing budgets and schedules to deliver equipment and tooling solutions to customers.

Required skills include a bachelor of science degree in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing technology), computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement and 1 or more years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
