Overview
Northwest Aerospace Technologies (NAT), a Safran Company, is the only EASA DOA Certified aircraft interior reconfiguration group in the United States. NAT provides design, engineering, quality, certification, and manufacturing services for a range of commercial and military aircrafts, serving Blue-Chip customers. This role is part of the Engineering team and focuses on mechanical design engineering within NAT's aerospace projects.
Responsibilities- Lead the design function: perform complete research, data acquisition, and engineering generation required to produce engineering products (parts lists, drawings, documentation, etc.).
- Ensure design content conforms to NAT quality system procedures, the customer statement of work, and applicable certification requirements.
- Develop engineering packages from concept to production using appropriate tools and collaboration with senior engineers and project engineers.
- Prepare drawings and documents that meet NAT quality standards, customer requirements, and certification authority expectations.
- Support multi-disciplinary work across structures, interiors, and systems; contribute to mechanical and electrical engineering tasks as needed.
- Mentor less experienced engineers and coordinate with customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Four-year engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Software or equivalent) or equivalent experience.
- Five to seven or more years of broad technical experience in an aerospace-related application, or equivalent non-degree experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD; experience with OEM drawings and mechanical systems (e.g., environmental control, vacuum waste, water supply and drain systems).
- Experience designing mechanical system installations and associated documentation.
- Strong drawing management, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently or in a team, with excellent written and verbal communication, prioritization, and attention to detail.
- Willingness to mentor others and coordinate with customers and interdepartmental teams.
- Primarily office-based with substantial computer use;
English fluency required. - Occasional extended or irregular hours to meet deadlines.
- Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.
